[part 10] the little girl
November 29, 2007 8:15 am talk about babies
The little girl has just recovered from her fever last weekend but poor little fella it switched to a runny nose and now she’s coughing a bit. Well, I think it’s simply the time of the year when flu and other sickness would be common. Even SMS had poor attendance last week because some of the children were ill. I’ve no idea what happened to CLS’s Award Day’s performance then - supposed to be on Sunday - since I myself am not feeling 100% well to ask around about it, yet.The little girl is now walking everywhere with better balancing skills and smiles all the way. Just call her name and she’ll come walking to you. She even know how ‘not to fall hard’; putting one hand on the ground to slow down the process and making it lesser tragic and painful.
She seems to want so much of independence when it comes to feeding and playing; “I want my own bowl, my own spoon!”, “Don’t feed me, I can do it on my own!”, “Don’t hold me back, I want to explore things on my own!”. She’s on easy to much family food and still on breast milk. She loves pointing out her finger to your face just like the way we’d point her nose and say “nose”, her eyes, mouth and so on. That might also came from the way we taught her to point objects on the reading touch pad. She’ll even point out the finger for an exchange; another pointing finger of yours to join hers and she’ll smile. One of the best time to see that is when we’re performing ‘tahiyyat’ during prayer, pointing out the forefinger. She thought she needs ‘to reply’ when she’s actually testing her parent’s concentrating skills…uhuh!
Choosing to be called Ummi and Abi made it a bit hard for my children to ‘quickly’ learn how to pronounce them well. Wouldn’t it be easier if it was Mama? Heee…But I think I can hear her calling ‘Ammi’ - sort of - especially when she cries nowadays. She’s making all kinds of sounds especially when you read to her a story or pronounce a word/letter on flash cards. She also likes to make the S hissing sound whenever she hears a word with the letter like ‘basah’ (wet).
She really loves the reading touch pad but sometimes she gets too excited she’ll be pushing it hard with all her fingers and all her might. She’s into little bears and dolls too. We bought her bigger ones before and they ended up in the toy box, unattractive enough to be pulled out. Unlike Kak Mai’s little Patrick (Spongebob’s sidekick) that Handzalah loves so much…she left it for him twice and the second time it’s ‘around’ Fidaa’ will hold it while walking and smiling. She likes it so much, she’ll have it on her hand most of the time. She ha also learnt how ‘the art of conquering’ the computer. “Never sit me on your lap, I need a good stand to touch the keyboard!”. She’s eyeing the mobile phone too. “Everything’s shiny with buttons and screens would make a nice toy huh?! Even adults play with them all the time so why can’t I?”
She’s very very clingy lately, especially when she was feverish and she’s casting the crying spell whenever she wants or not getting something. Though grumpy at times, she’s a nice little girl that’ll put her head on your lap lovingly or push it close to your heart as if saying “I love you, please cuddle me”. All kids are great psychologists, they know how to play with your feelings ;).
Another interesting thing about her; she sings while sort of waving one hand! She’ll be making a constant sound - song like tune - when she plays on her own or walking around. It’s funny seeing her doing that and how she’ll make a shy impression when she notices your observation. She’ll clap her hands and move her body when you sing to her especially if it’s Pok Amai2. That’s my little darling.
I think that’ll be the story of this little girl with two front teeth and bubbly cheeks as for now. We’re going to have a long day at the GP today since she still needs to complete her 2nd dose of Hep B jab and Handzalah will have a checkup. And so does Ummi…that’s all folks! Have a good day ahead InshaAllah
